Week 2: Group 3 in class film production

 Week 2:Film practice

Reflection about today's production

Overall, today's film production was quite rushed. To come up with a script, assign roles, shoot, edit, and then present all within just one hour was a significant challenge. Firstly, my team and I had never worked together before, so our level of understanding and cooperation was virtually zero. Fortunately, everyone had great ideas and excellent communication skills. This didn't pose a major problem for the scriptwriting phase.

During the shooting process, we encountered some issues. The first was regarding camera angles. Since we hadn't drawn up a storyboard, we had to decide on the shooting angles on the spot, which resulted in some time delays. Secondly, I had a personal issue. I always wanted to capture the best shot, so I ended up wanting to shoot each scene 2-3 times, which also consumed time. It can be said that the shooting process didn't proceed very smoothly.

Lastly, there was the editing. Because we had all agreed on the script from the beginning, following the outlined storyline in the editing process posed no problems. Moreover, our editing speed wasn't very slow, and I even added some special effects to the end of the film.

From this shooting experience, I've learned a valuable lesson: There's no such thing as absolute perfection in film production, completing the production is the most thing. Just like today's production, we only accomplished about 70% of the outline. If it weren't for my pursuit of perfection, we might have achieved 100% completion for the entire film. Therefore, in the future, production efficiency should be the top priority. Even if the beginning is excellent, an incomplete work is not a fully realized piece. This is an area where I need to improve.
