The organizing plan for my film

Image
Notes I took: Center Idea: Saying goodbye to my past. What I want through this movie: I want to talk to my dad about my past self and wonder if I've made him proud now. Try to reconcile with my past and let it go. Then Embrace the rest of your life with hope and make it splendid. What I want this movie to convey in terms of ideas: The importance of parents in a child's experience growing up. That no matter what happens, our parents love us more than we realize. I could have started this project with hate because my father's departure was a lifelong wound. But in the end, I will definitely get over it with this. Because we cannot keep living in the past. At the end of the movie, I will write a letter to 13-year-old Zhang Haoran. Tell him that although you will experience some partings, although you will be mocked and questioned by others, you must believe in yourself. Because you are not bad at all. Dad's departure was due to his own reasons, it is not that you are not...

Impression after watching “Family, Home” “家,家”

Through filming, director Rachel helped her own family unravel their hearts and understand that they love each other very much. It also reflects that parents are the best teachers for their children and their behavior often affects their children's growth. Here are some notes I took when I watch the film: This movie presents the story through interviews. For Rachel her family of origin was very unhappy and did not speak to each other. Not only that, but her father's family had patriarchal customs, which added to the fact that Rachel was not taken seriously at her grandmother's house. Her mother didn't talk to her father at home either, and it was because of this family relationship that Rachel developed a withdrawn personality. But this is not the case. Through the interview, Rui Xue learned of his father's hardships. In the interview, the father keeps apologizin...

Impression after watching “Looking For Dad”

The movie focuses on Charlie's search for why his father wasn't there for him after he passed away.  Here are some notes I took when I watch the film:                    In my opinion, this movie is presented from a very objective point of view, and Charlie depicts what kind of person his father is through the narratives of his father's friends and colleagues. Because Charlie's impression of his father is missing, if Charlie's subjective thoughts were used to describe the film, I feel that there would be a critique of the father in the middle. That helped me a lot with the movie. I also needed to describe the father from an objective point of view. I wanted to find the answer through this film, not just make a film to criticize what my father had done. That's why an objective description is also very important. Here my mother's account can be used to present what my father was like. A subjective description of the idea of why he wan...

Week 3: Pitch Exercise

Thoughts on the Title Sequence 90s draft trailer for my Film: <I Want To Know>   My   idea  for this film: The theme of this film is about paternal love. I want to ask my father a question through the film: "If you saw the current Haoran Zhang making progress, would you still have given up on me and our originally happy family ten years ago? Do you regret it?"   W hy you think this project is worthwhile : Why do I believe this film is worth making? Firstly, for me, my father's abandonment has been a knot in my heart for many years. I have always believed that my youthful mischief and poor grades made my father think I was a child not worth nurturing. In addition, his career was on the rise, and in order not to be burdened by me, he decisively abandoned both me and my mother. Fortunately, my mother kept this secret from me. She worked hard to earn money to support my education abroad. It wasn't until I graduated from university that she revealed the truth to me....
Week 4: Film Questions https://vimeo.com/131406587 https://www.lukeblairmusic.com/love-mary https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-listen-to-bridgeton-2017-online Questions:  1. How is the story told (linear, with flashbacks, flash-forwards, episodically) For 'Mining Poems or Odes,' I believe it tells the story through flashbacks and episodically elements.  For "Listen to Bridgeton" I think the narrative style of this documentary is non-linear. 2. How does the film cue particular reactions on the part of viewers (sound, editing, characterization, camera movement, etc.)? Why does the film encourage such reactions? In the film " Mining Poems   or Odes" , we see many of Robert's past experiences, including some old photos from his time at the shipyard, as well as his oral accounts of previous stories about reading. The focus here is on personal experiences, and these flashbacks help the audience to understand the protagonist's history and establish ...
